TCT replacement

Thumbs up TCT replacement

i went to the dealership today and they said to replace my tct would take somewere around 6hours. i thought this was supposed to be an easy fix even with the supercharger thats on my car. could anybody help me with a link to a DIY with pics, and how long should this really take. thanks

timing chain tensioner? It would take probably 20 minutes at most

They're trying to bend you over and ram that price where it shouldn't be. Just get the d.i.y. on it and save yourself a ton of cash, or take it to a worthy independent shop.

Actually, the SC is going to make that job a bitch. I assume you have a Comptech or Vortech SC.



Those who have done the TCT replacement will see why. You have to pull the SC off in order to get to the allen head plug on the front of the motor that allows access to the keeper pin holding the new TCT arm in place for installation.

Im not a fan of being bent over and screwed by some grungy mechanic but i knew that the time they gave me was wrong. but could somebody get me a DIY link to the TCT replacement with some pics.

Look in the FAQ...there's a link there.

You will have to remove your supercharger before you can follow the FAQ though.

What people fail to realize is the dealership makes all the money and not the tech working on the car . I charge my customers 1 hour to change the tct on a stock vehicle . In youre case the charger will have to be pulled . For a tech with little experience with superchargers i dont think 6 hours is too far fetched . Now if the tech has lots of know how with supercharged s2ks(like myself) then id say 4 hours .
