ah...

I just turbocharged my car... so i'm trying to decide if its the TCT or possibly some rattle that the turbo brought along with it...

I've read that boost can cause the TCT to do this...

Use the old-school stethescope trick. Take a long screwdriver and place the pointy end on the TCT. Bend down and place the handle against your ear. If you can hear the rattle clearly, then it is the problem. You might have to check a couple places - like the service port for example (on the front of the block).

What else could it be?

Its an annoying rattle noise... which, again, could be the turbocharger... but il try the stethoscope trick

The noise is coming from the plastic chain guide, as a result of the tensioner backing off.

I'm going to give you all an experiment to try, the next time you have a noisy TCT.

Take it apart, and SANDBLAST part #3 in the above pic. Take all the shine from this piece so it's rough.

Reassemble, and see how your noise is.

1 housing
2 large fat spring
3 inner worm (sandblast)
4 long thin spring
5 pin
6 piston

If this does not do it, I have a modified lifetime unit.

bill do you think the cause is the worm gear or the springs losing tension over time? i also wonder if it has anything to do with driving style and a lot of rev matching downshifting?
