Default Technical o2 sensor questions

Ok, so I have a test pipe coming on the way and it should be here on thursday, just in time for Christmas. Instead of going for the o2 simulator I am going to replace both o2 sensors as well and use the mechanical o2 simulator on the test pipe. Now my questions to further this topic (which I think ive asked before but never got answered)

1.Are there any technical differences between the OEM primary and secondary o2 sensors versus the primary and secondary sensors made by other vendors such as Bosch and NGK.

2. I also read the thread where the Civic primary o2 sensor is the same as the s2000 primary sensor but the wires need to be extended for it to reach.

Sorry to be picking at this topic hardcore, it just seems unusual that Honda would charge $275 for a sensor when you can either buy a universal from Bosch for a 1/4th of the cost, or when you can mod a civic sensor for 50 bucks if there wasnt any difference between them. Physically maybe they look the same but do they REALLY read/ support all the different bands that the s2000 requires? Sure maybe there isnt a check light that comes on with them, but is the car at full 100% potential with the sensors other than the OEM?

Just wanting to make sure I buy the right sensors primary and secondary. (not wanting to shuck out 600 for 2 OEM ones btw).

And I guess to help point me in the right direction are there any recommendations as to which ones I should opt for?

There should be no difference in the OEM versus the universals as far as funtionallity goes. However I have used the universals in my buddies GSR and the car doesn't seem to do as well. The wiring on the universals also suck. I would suggest checking out Kragen or Autozone for a direct replacement and getting one through them it should be cheaper. I know I got a new one for my car for less than $100, but I can normally get special pricing, and this is a car with more than 350HP. If you do decide to do some sort of wiring make sure you solder and protect all splices.
