I also have the tein dampers, I love them. simple bolt on, cool looks, more access to to work under the hood and yes you can still drop close the hood. If you want to open the hood to the 90 degree angle you can very easily remove one side of the damper and still use the original prop.(very rarely do you need to open the hood that far) I am going to re-paint them red, although green is not to bad with berlina. IMO
I go them to. I want to gte mine repainted also, maybe yellow or red. I think Ill strip the paint like Paulie said and see what they look like first. Anyone have pics of them stripped?
Well here are a couple of fair quality pictures I got with my pops' digital camera.
I can't really get the color to show very well because of the light shining off of them. The color is almost a perfect match to the "gold" color of the spark plug wire covor. It is a 1999 Volvo color. My body shop charged me $50 to do them and it only took a day.
If you plan to strip the paint yourself, I'd recommend getting some four ought steel wool to help scrub the paint off.
If I could get the green off then I'd be in shape.
Didn't see this answered. Strip the green and you are left with an aluminum/light silver color. It looks 100x's better than the green. Personally, my were painted to match the car... I'm kinda picky like that.
I HATED the look of the stripped dampers. It's better than green, yes, but not by much. I wish I'd have thought to take a picture of them stripped. I think it's much better to have them painted...cost me $50.
