Default Temperature gauge values?

Hey guys i've been wondering this, perhaps some people with more accurate temperature gauge readings would know this, "approximately" what does each bar on the OEM Temperature gauge cluster represent in degrees F.? IE. How hot (degrees F) is the engine coolant at just 3 bars showing on the gauge?

Also what is the normal running temperer of the S?

thanks in advance for the info

I have a Scangauge in my car, it reads the OBD signals and displays various parameters. I've seen between 78C and 101C while the dash displays 3 bars. That's 172F to 214F.

The dash display may as well be three lights: cold, normal, and hot.

Does your scangauge read oil and/or water temp? The instrument gauge indicates water temp only. Are those the water temp numbers you are referencing off of your scangauge?

Water temp, it reads the same sensor the dash does.

now in measuring engine temperature, what is more accurate (or "better") to know coolant temperature, or oil temperature

^I'd imagine coolant temp would be better to judge the actual engine temp.

According to my reading, 180-190*F is about where a normal engine should be at. With my H22 Prelude, I'd have S300 kick the radiator fan on at 185* and never datalogged past 188*.
