Default tensioers?

Hi ive not long had my s2000 ap1. Just wondered if the tensioners for the ccambelt are known to break as I have found out they are chain driven. I am completely in the dark as have only just got it. Thanks

Yes it is chain driven and no they are not known to break just to make a loud ticking noise

yes they do go bad. the ticking noise is to tell you that its bad or broken! you can either service it yourself or buy a new unit. Billman has a TCT ( timing chain tensioner ) fix. search it. everything you need to know has been covered here. look at the main page of the "under the hood" section on the DIY/FAQ section.

no worries. and beware that these cars have a loud valve train in design. so dont drive yourself crazy with the noises.
