help! ticking noise
i am a little worried about a ticking noise in the front of the engine. i dont think its the valves because they are hydraulically adjusted right? i havnt really beat on my car either. i only use the best oils and fluids.ect. so i am guessing that the noise is the cam chain. i have an 04 s2k, 66k on the stock motor. whats could be going bad? cam chain tensioner? chain guides? chain? what? please help. is the tensioner hydraulic or spring loaded? what is involved in the repair? i can do it myself if i had the instructions. anyone willing to help?
thanks,

thank guys, sounds easy enough. being a helicopter mechanic, it cant be to hard. i need an oil change anyway. if that dont fix it, then it has to be the valves. adjusted at 66k? seems a little soon. guess i can check the valve clearance too while im there under the hood anyway. im not to worried anymore though....i am planning on having "the old one" build my engine this coming winter.
Ticking noise near engine...I bet 95% it's TCT(Timing Chain Tensioner). I've replaced mine at about 63,XXX miles...I also did 'Valve Adjustment' and replaced 'ignition coil packs' at the same time(both not the problem) but helped eliminate my check engine light.

i would say do the oil change first, i changed my oil last weekend, and the engine noice just gone. before the oil change, the car has the "card on the bicycle wheel" sounds from 2.5k-4k rpm, after the oil change, it is way way way less than before, barely noticable.
well, it was the first oil change on my car... now i dun even notice much of the engine noise.... all i hear is the intake!!
and only 15% oil left before i did the oil change....
hope those helps...
