Default test drive

Today,I test drove an 03 S2000. When I got on to a road with no one around I
took off and at about 6000rpm it felt like I hit a wall. the car stuttered and I was thrown forward n my seat. I was like WTF!!! so my first thought was that this car is screwed and won't engage VTEC. After a few seconds I tried again and everything was fine...I took the car by my house so my wife could check it out.
She was looking at it and noticed the maintenance req. light was on. When I got home I left the engine running and went in to get the wife. I don't know when the light came on??? The car has 14000 miles on it and looks to be well taken care of. my question is( and I did try to search) does this car need the "MAP whack" or should I forget about this car and keep looking?

Maint. Req. light is based only on milage. Has nothing to do with what happened. However, it might be a sign that the owner has not had routine maintenance done to the car.

What probably happened is that you didn't let the car warm up. Don't go above 6000 rpm until the temperature gauge shows at least two bars -- three is better.

OK thats what I what I was thinking about the maint. light...I did notice that they had changed the oil, they had one of those stickers up in the top corner of the windshield with their logo on it....Could that have anything to do with it? At what interval does the light come on? how do you clear it out?

And I did not have the car warmed up. I drove it about two blocks before getting on it.
