Default Why did my maint reqd light come on?

I understand that the S2000s have a maintanance required light. What I don't understand is why it came on for me.

I was participating in a spirited drive, and probably spent a good 60 miles in VTEC, and was basically hard on the car. I checked the oil when the engine was warm before leaving, and it was full. The car has 20,900 miles, and there is no maintanance required until 22,500 miles. Why would the maint req'd light come on at this mileage? Did something bad happen to the car during the drive?

I should add that the light blinked at me twice when turning the car on afterwards, and then it went away. I've never seen in blink before.

Howdy,

I believe it comes on a little before it's due

Peace

Don't worry;it's only to let you know,it's about time you read the Owner's manual.

I looked through the entire manual, but didn't find anything on that. Can someone either answer my question, or tell me which pages I'm supposed to be looking at?

Don't worry about it. Just make sure that the dealership resets it the next time you get service done.

You should be more concerned if the check engine light comes on....maintainance required is not a big deal.

The light needs to be reset. Look in the manuel for the section that discusses resetting the light. It involves holding the trip button for some length of time after you turn the key on.

You actually need to read it rather than just look at it. Read it cover to cover. Your car will not blow up in the mean time. The light will just remind you to finish reading it.

The maint reqd light has NOTHING to do with how you are driving the car.

It comes on after a predetermined number of miles click away on the odometer. In other words, it's been xxxx number of miles since the light was last reset.
