Default test pipe

i have what may be a stupid question. My cat is bad on my car and I am planning on replacing it with a test pipe. Just fyi I have a K&N intake and a tenabe hyper medalion exhaust currently on the car. My question is, will the car run fine just bolting a test pipe in or do I need to have the car tuned via vafcII, ect. Thank you for any advice

i already have an engine light because of a bad o2 sensor which I believe led to my cat going bad. My main concern is it running rich or stalling out. And may be another stupid question but what exactly is the CEL fix?

a CEL fix is just an extender that puts your O2 sensor a little further away from the exhaust flow. This just ensures that the sensor doesn't smell too much of the uncatalyzed exhaust, which would throw a check engine light.

Slightly OT, but how badly does the exhaust stink without a cat? Is it something you can get used to? What's it smell like?

ever get stuck behind an old pickup? thats what it smells like. you can get used to it, but you really wont notice it unless you're just idling, or backing up into your exhaust fumes.

well you can smell for sure but not strong unless you start it up in a garage in the morning or if you smash off. sometimes i smell mine at a traffic light but its not bad. i like the test pipe though, when my friends say damn your exhaust stinks after smashing off...kinda feel like a bad ass lol.

also fix your bad o2 sensor! a CEL would make your car go to limp mode.

depends on which CEL is thrown. I've thrown a few CEL's due to wierd weather+TP, and I've never gone into limp mode
