Default Test pipe question!

Well I tried to search and all I got was a blank screen so don't even flame me...

I'm getting a turbo installed in my car right now and wanted to free up some air so I was wondering.... Does the test pipe I use really matter? It's just a straight pipe right? Or is there something special about it?

Thanks,
Nick

But I don't want to raise my boost. I just want it to be able to flow easier without working as hard to do so. I want to stay at 8psi

"Test" pipe is just a euphemism. It's just a hollow metal tube.

Well I know what it is, I'm just wondering if with all the different ones, is there actually a difference? A pipe is a pipe right?

There are some that are resonated. Performance might be affected with those. Most are just straight pipes. You want to match up the diameter of the pipe with the diameter of your header/exhaust if you have that option. Some do have mounting points to cover up the fact that you don't have a cat by putting the shields over the test pipe.

I think the consensus is that it is a useful mod with SC/Turbo.

Get the mechanical anti-fouler off of ebay or make one if you do get a test pipe.
