test pipe resonator
have come across what they call a test pipe resonator on ebay advertised as folows:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Honda-S2000...sspagenameZWD2V
. it looks as though it replaces the cat converter??? could someone explain to me what the benifit of this is. i have a standard 00 model - stock pipes which i want to keep on the car and i have a K&N FIPK induction kit fitted.
is it worth me fitting this in place of the cat converter or is it a waste of time.

Can you put up a link so we can see the thing?
I have a feeling it's just a straight pipe that has the outward appearance of being a cat (to fool emissions testers). It reduces the backpressure so you get a better flow out the exhaust. It will change the sound of the exhaust. However, it may be of only small benefit in terms of power gains for a NA car. Oh, I will also throw a CEL unless you put on some kind of O2 simulator. And it may also be illegal where you live to go without a cat.
