Default Testpipe, resonator, or HiFlow cat?????????????

Maybe you guys can help me....I have a spugen TI dual exhaust(which has a magnaflow resonator) and I just replaced the cat with a test pipe..I gained 7hp with the test pipe and I dont want to give up the hp gain, however im not happy with the sound...the car sounded great before and sounds very ricy now....my tunner suggested replacing the testpipe with another resonator...he said i would still keep most of the hp gain of the testpipe but the sound level would decrease and the ricy metal vibrating and popping/backfiring type noise i get on deceleration would go away.....has anyone done this? can anyone back this up....? I have also considered ultimate racings hi flow cat!!!!! can anyone help?

Has anyone put a HiFlow cat from ultimate racing on there S and dynoed?

joe no high flow cat or any resonator is going to give you the 7+hp you gained. i'm sure they will perform better then the oem cat. and yes a highflow cat will also lower the amount of noise coming out. you will no longer have the raspy metal sound or the back fire. by the way i'll take your TP from you....

What about a resonater...will that also eliminate the raspy metal nouse? or does it have to be a hiflow cat?

I just replaced my cat with a Magnaflow SS resonator. Notably lighter than the cat. No audible change in exhaust note or volume.

HP gain? Don't know. The butt dyno seems to think so, but until we get it on the rollers, can't say for sure...

I think your best bet is the high flow cat. I have one from UR for use with my turbo kit and it's really nice. I'll be installing it this weekend and see how it does. Shouldn't have to worry about any CEL with it. Price was $285 and you can call Darrly at UR (416)292-6446 and he will tell you all about it. He's a really nice guy and tell him Chadd from Michigan had you call him for some question about the it.
