I haven't really heard much in regard to dislike for the Koni shocks??? They may have become damaged or were defective upon purchase?

As far as the KW's... Yes ride height is individually adjustable as well as the rebound and high speed compression.

The Spring rates of the KW's are 515 lbs front and rear and they can be adjusted for a fairly mild street ride or kidney rupturing track setup.

 

I think the weak link in my set up is not the Koni's but rather the ground control's.

So the ride height is totally independent from spring rate, on my GC's, to set ride height, you basically compress the spring updward or downward, thus changing the spring rate.

I do not believe that the ride height is independent from preload. By altering the ride height, you are increasing or decreasing the preload. I would imagine that this would be the case on any coilover system.

 

Hence the need for the manufacturer to "tune" the spring and damper. I've just has problem with mine where Nitron assumed +04's are the same as 99-03. They now want the car to take measurements and allow them to select the correct spring and matched damper.

 

From what I understand, the buddy clubs allow independent ride height adjustment, which does not affect preload/spring compression rate. Nice nitron's. I cant afford to go that high end.

 

Looking at the ones in this thread you might be right but only to a small extent. A small height adjust could be made on the lower adjuster. Top adjuster is similar to my Nitrons which give the most height adjustment.

The ride height adjustment is independent from perhaps compression and rebound.

If you are really raising or lowering your car, preload will be affected.
