Default Settings for GCs/Koni's

I recently purchised some Koni's and Ground controls from another member. I was going to put them on this past weekend but the height adjustment seemed a little off. With the Ground Controls sitting on the lower perch, I had to raise the part the spring sits on amlost to the top of the sleeve just to get the spring to touch the top.

Is this normal?
Where do most of you with this setup have them set?

I also noticed this pic.

I dont have the adjustment tool or the additional black rings are these needed.

Thanks

That was my first step. Just have not heard from him yet.

I just set all four at the exact same height, set the car on the ground and measure from there. It`s pretty easy if you do this on a lift, as you can adjust w/out pulling the wheels off. It`s just a trial and error type of thing. Crank it up or down a few turns, drop and measure (repeat)

According to Eibach and GC it is normal to have space between the spring and top when not weighted. That seems odd.

Doesn't seem odd to me. The springs are shorter than normal and the sleeves don't expand/contract...
