Default Thinking of purchasing an S2000

whats up im a newbie, i currently own a prelude, but looking to sell it for my cuzins, uncles s2000....... just wanted to ask some questsions

the s2000 that im looking to purchase has a Comptech Supercharger, lowered springs, and a high performance clutch... everything was installed by the honda dealership.... now the s2000 is in service an has some problems......... my cuzins uncle blew the rear out.... which they estimate $3-4000 or damage.....
and it only has 13000 miles on it

My question is:

How hard is it to blow a rear in an S??
this only leads me to think that hes been beating on the car since he got it...

How much is the car worth and how much should i offer him? he wants 28000 btw

And do you think ill run into problems in the future once everything is fixed on the rear?

thanks

Joe

Abusing an S2k (clutch dumps, burnouts, etc) will cause the rear end to go. So yes, the car has been abused most likely. And he wants WAY too much for that car.

I have to agree with Pakisho...that is way overpriced for a beat to hell car. To blow out the rear is has to be totally abused and I dont think I would sell it to a cousin's uncle's monkey. Besides, for that price, you can get a brand new one (2003) when they get ready to clear their lots That's waht I did. Besides, that way you know how it has been driven and that it wasnt beaten on.

In that case, I definately wouldnt buy it. There is a guy locally that was selling his 2002 SC'd w/many more mods for $29K. And his was not all beat to hell!!! I would definately think twice about buying it and look into buying a new 2K3 for around that price. Trust me, I dont regret doing that myself. Dont get me wrong, a SC'd S would be sweet, but knowing that you are the one that gets to break it in the way you want and baby/drive it hard is such a better feeling

Personally, I would stay away from any car that has a turbo or supercharger, lowered springs, and a high performance clutch. These are clues that there is a good chance that the car has been majorly abused. If I were you, I'd go after a stock model that has low mileage, never seen snow and has been babied.

Hey Ilcapo, check this out 2003 w/3773 miles. It's a silverstone on E-bay and the bid is at $24,500 right now. It's local to you (well in Teterboro N.J. I think you can go to the dealership and give tehm a good offer and they will probably close it out. Just some thought.

Stay away from that car!
Buy a MY 04 instead.

I agree with everyone above. I recently bought my 2001 with just 6400 miles for just $24k with the Hardtop and it is in excellent shape and has never been abused.

Keep looking and good luck
