Default throttle body question

Thanks to UL I was guided to this web site ... http://www.ericksracing.com/throttlebody.htm
I do understand the benefit of a throttle body; however, I don't know if it truly benefits the S2000 - can someone enlighten me? My car is mostly stock with the exception of a JR filter and mingster intake. Would this throttle body help any? If so, at what RMP/power range.

Thanks for any input.

My impression is that it will probably not add to your stock S2000. Many of us have the proflow enlarged throttle body or the spoon throttle body and have seen no increase in power.

If you modify your engine to use more fuel/air then it would help. FI or cams and porting would probably benefit.

I got a ported throttle body to 70 mm I believe from proflow designs or something like that. After I installed it there was a slight increase in flow but I believe the benefit was very very minimal.

Some people have claimed 2-3 hp increases but I dynoed after I had it installed at 198 hp.

Also forgot to mention that changing the TB allows for a only a slight increase in air.. the ECU is programmed to modify the baseline specs up to 1.5 times.. when you first install a new throttle body you can hear the ecu making the adjustments right in front of you.. you dont have to retune the car.

cjb80,

When you added the 70mm TB did you have your intake manifold match ported?

Nope, I think proflow offered that for an additional $75 or so, but I decided that it wasn't worth removing the intake manifold for it. Back then I was a wossie when it comes to doing work under the hood by myself.. not anymore!
