Default Throttle Body Questions

I know that this has probably been asked a 1000 + times, but here goes. I have a CAI and was wondering if adding a larger TB would anything to add increased HP?

The bottom line is probably not. The larger TB will only seem to increase throttle response because for the same amount of throttle travel the opening will be slightly greater. I believe the general opinion on the board is it will help if Supercharged or Turbocharged maybe.

Check out this thread:

In back-to-back dyno pulls on a superchaged car, it did make a difference, ~13 HP.

We didn't do with and without pulls on a non-supercharged car, so we really can't draw any conclusions, but my car with the Proflow throttle body did dyno higher than the other two NA S2000s that day, ~3 HP.

tedster,
Did you have to sent Proflow you TB before you got one from them? I can't do without a car and want one.

Thanks,
Incubus.

No, it was done on a core exchange basis; in other words, they sent me a bored throttle body (formerly on someone else's car), I swapped it for my stock one, and sent the stock one to them for re-working.

Tedster,
Thanks for the info. Still don't know if I should do it or not.

Tedster forgot to say that the other two cars did not have any mods outside of an exhaust which virtually provides no gains at all. Also, the two 2002s had 11K and the other less than 1.5K miles on them.

From what I know, Tedster's got the air filter, throttle body and is well broken in.

I was just having a discussion with UL about changing out the TB to the Proflow...may do that and check pull both ways NA.

Ben,

like I said, we can't really draw any conclusions. I've got the air filter and more miles, but UL claims that 2002s make more power out of the box. Who knows? We really need to do back-to-back pulls on the same car.

Give me a few months when I hit 10K and we'll do it up right! No further mods for me outside of an aftermarket air filter.
