Kudo's to the first of you mechanical gurus who comes up with a retro fit. The AP1 would obviously be out of the question but I would bet you could change a couple parts and plug an 06 ecu into and 04/05 and have some pretty good results. Just something to think about. I am sure someone will try it. You guys tried everything else.

Why would you want the electronic nanny DBW, I hate it. They have the same thing in the 04 TL. And the computer is always guessing what your going to do next. The key word is guessing. Believe me when people start taking delivery of the 06's you will see a whole bunch of threads on here as far as how to retrofit the 04/05. You know the good old fashioned throttle cable having throttle body. I dont like to speculate, but here it is. Did honda do it for some sort of emissions compliance? Go look at the epa website you will notice that they have the s2k listed as one of the worst polluting vehicles. DBW never!!!!!!

 

I think you're right, Billman. But it's really going to depend on Honda's implementation. My Audi allroad (an '01) was one of the first DBW Audis, and it left a lot to be desired. On the other hand, my STi (an '05) was fine (at least I think it had DBW -- although Subaru calls it "electronic throttle control"). So it'll be interesting to see what people report -- particularly people who have driven earlier models with a cable. HPH

 

The DBW is a needed part of the DSC system, so the ECU can back off the throttle.

I'd find it hard to believe Honda would incorporate a slow reacting throttle system in this performance oriented car. We can only wait and see....

 

I hope so for the sakes of the 06+ owners out there. Honda if you are reading this, dont drop the ball. You ruined the 04TL with this, dont let it happen on your purest sports car.

 

Do you have a link to this? The S2000 was rated as LEV in 2000 when it came out. I can't imagine how it could be a big poluter especially next to the H2, F150, Navigator, Mustang, etc. Do you have a link? I would like to read this.


DBW is all about the implementation. The DBW on a corvette is very well tuned and I doubt anyone here could tell it was DBW from the driver's seat without a book in their hands.

Personally I have no need for DBW on my S2000 so I wouldn't ever bother trying to implement it. I think those that want to supercharge the 2006's will try to remove it though.

 

I just keep thinking about the dbw system in the new M3. From what I understand it is great. manual control over the sensitivity of system. I have only driven the m3 once and I didn't have any complaints.
