I tried to find how those ratings are determined, and my conclusion is that the ratings are profoundly flawed. This is what happens when you try to make a simple 1-10 metric for something that is complicated.

My guess is that the S2000 is limited to a "2" because of NOx. But the metrics don't tell you what the car actually is producing.

The reason why I would guess NOx is the high engine compression ratio. Higher compression generally means more NOx.

I just keep thinking about the dbw system in the new M3. From what I understand it is great. manual control over the sensitivity of system. I have only driven the m3 once and I didn't have any complaints.

the throttle in the m3 is awesome. very responsive.

and DBW doesnt "predict" anything. it does what you tell it to do, but in bad implementations it lags, giving a very disconnected feel.

I will be happy with my 9K redline and a real cable between my foot and the throttle plate. The 06 has a 8k redline and wire between you and the engine, next they will install an automatic trans so that you can take your hand off the shifter that is almost an extension or my arm. Thanks but no thanks, hey the new civic Si now has the same redline as a S2000 ... Another reason I love my MY2000

The DBW in my turbo VW is awesome seems much more responsive than my S2000 ever was. As far as the S2000 being a LEV it probably is but only below 6000rpm's. Anybody else been on S2000 spirited group drives and see all the puffs of black smoke when the S2000 shifts?

That's a slippery slope fallacy...

Although if it were true, I'd feel like puking. Auto's are so boring to drive.

Untill the 06's hit the dealer and the manuals come out, It's all speculation.

It's pointless to debate a retrofit when all the details of the system are an unknown.
