Default ticking sound on acceleration

So when I start the car it makes a ticka tock tink sound.

Then idles fine. On acceleration you can hear the tinking, then at speed when cruising it goes away. the sound is in gears 1-4 that i can hear, but probably in 5 and 6 also. The car seems to run fine. I am VTSC tuned on AEM and I dont feel anything weird or loss of power.

Any help would be nice.

TIA

Skate

Oh i am at 74k miles and its a 2001. Been supercharged since this january.

Try adjusting the valves.

And also make sure the SC bracket hasn't cracked.

should i go to a dealer or should i have my tuner adjust the valves? Cause i am sure that is what it could be. It was my first thought. But i didnt want to "jump to conclusions." <(office space reference)

^^are you asking me what i thought it was? I called honda, they said they wont touch it because it is supercharged. What does adjusting the valves involve?

now that i went back out i couldnt hear it at first. But after i turned the car off after 15min of driving i turned it back on real quick and the sound happened just before the engines fully turns over and it sounds more like a sputter now that i listen and think back on it.

So maybe my plugs are fouled. Hmmmm. What do you think?

If the valve is not adjusted, it will tick regardless in idle or acceleration.
The problem is not a valve adjustment.

You said "tinking" a metalic sound?
You said at cruising speed, its gone?

Do you think your car is pinging? using bad gas? advance too much?
Low gear and low speed has big load , where ping happens.

Ping being what. Sorry still learning.

BTW, i only put 93 octane Shell gasoline. Change my oil every 2000miles. Mobile 1 full synthetic. Never over revved, and beat on it a lot. Ha

Ping means detonation.

The pinking noise that is heard, is the gas ignited by self ignition, colliding with the ignited gas from the spark plug. With preignition, the collision of the burning gasses occurs before the piston has reached the top of the bore and so not at maximum cylinder pressure.

The causes of detonation can be similar to preignition, e.g., too high a compression, only causing the problem of self combustion at TDC. The favorite cause of detonation however is too weak a mixture as a weak mixture burns more easily than a rich one.

On supercharged and turbo charged cars, the cause is often down to inlet air too high a temperature.

that would make sense. Seeing it only happens once i drive for a while. I will check the coolant, change the plugs, and check the fuel maps. Thanks man.
