Thumbs up Timing Chain Tensioner

My S2k has 61k it is an 03'.
I changed the timing chain tensioner about 6 k ago, but it still made that annoying ticking noise that most people on the boards said it was a cause of the timing chain tensioner going out. So today i am changing it for the 2nd time!
If it continues to tick what could it be that i need to fix or adjust?
FYI: i got my valves adjusted 10k ago...

All comments are welcome!

Thank you, Alex

its not uncommon to replace them after 10k, so i would say you are very much near the border for replacement.

what oil brand do you use?

i've heard that Mobil 1 seems to accelerate the wear on the tensioner, wether its fact or speculation has not been proven at this point.

but may be worth a shot if u are running mobil

How have you determined it's the tensioner and not the valves?

How could mobil 1 ruin the tensioner? I've always run mobil in all my cars. This is the first I've heard of such an issue.

because it is not unheard of for this car to burn mobil 1 faster than other oils, and when u burn off oil, oil pressure drops due to less oil in the crank case, the tensioner works off of oil pressure....

the mobil 1 thing is just something i've heard...i am no mechanical engineer so take it for what u will.

there is a permanent TCT fix that involves a sandblaster or grinder. You might want to look into that. pm billman. My TCT is starting to make noise as well on warm start ups. 40k miles on a 05 here.

Can you elaborate what needs to be done to do the permanent fix? I just replaced my TCT 3500 miles ago and it's starting to make noise again already. I used Royal Purple on my last oil change.. That noise really bugs..
