Default tone comming from intake manifold..

Hey guys, whats up. Ok, here is my prob. I just tried to install a hondata intake manifold gasket on my S. Afetr 3 hours, i couldnt get to the last two bolts on the manifold, so i just put it all back to stock. well, afterwards, i re-filled the coolant, started her up, and a very odd tone came from my intake manifold.

It sounds almost like the tone you would hear over the telephone. When i rev up the engine, it goes away. However, when it returns to idle, the sound comes back. Im going to take it to Honda tomorow to se what the deal is. Any suggestions would be greatly appeciated.

also, i will be posting the gasket in the sale forum. New in package.

What kind of cell phone do you have? Seriously, a 'cell phone sound' doesn't describe it at all. Where is this mystery sound coming from exactly? Try to describe it better. Maybe everything wasn't torqued down right. You're supposed to re-check the torque on the bolts after the first drive.

BTW, the bottom mounting bracket bolts usually have to be dremeled when you install a hondata gasket. The extra thickness of the gasket causes the holes to be misaligned.

My guess (as an acoustics engineer, considering the extremely limited information you gave us) is that you have a small leak. The reason the noise goes away may be just that it gets covered up at higher RPMs by other noise.

yup, probably a leak between the intake manifold and head.

If you would take off the alternator and belt tensioner, you won't have any trouble getting to all the bolts. That is if you have a decent set of tools.

yeah, that just seemed like too much work to install this part, call me crazy, but Id rather not shred my hands and spend 3 hours doing it for so little gain. Besides, Im not going to tell a valuable difference in the winter.

When I first saw the thread title, I was going to say CAI, but you didn't mention anything of it.
