Default Top Question

I have an 08 that the top was replaced under warranty by Honda according to the previous owner. On both the driver and passenger side about 1.5" behind the door I can stick my finger between the black trim and the top. Alternately if I reach my arm inside the car I can stick my finger up and out through the same spot.

I have only had the car a month but I can't imagine this being correct. Any suggestions for an easy fix before I drive to the dealership?

No easy or appropriate fixes. There are two top defects, the front handle punches through and the rear tears on the rough metal. It should still be under warranty from the fix.

It sounds like the area he is describing is not the typical wear point, it sounds more like a bad install or a small bracket is missing, i would need pics to confirm, both top up and down at the affected area.

It seems to me like it should be running in that curved channel as it goes up and down...

The top should be in the rain getter and riveted at that point, it looks like someone missed a step when installing it. The installer either missed that step or the bracket that holds the top to the body has come off at that point. You may have to pull a few pieces of the interior to fix it, not that difficult though.

Ok thanks! I was feeling along that rain gutter and it feels like there is maybe a rivet or snap along there that isn't attached. I can pull the top back over the "rain gutter" when it is up but as soon as I put the top down and then bring it back up its back to how the pictures show.

Does the rain gutter actually do what it sounds like and channel the watter down and out the bottom of the car? I would think there should be some provision to get the watter out of that area between the molding and the top.
