does anyone know what the torque spec is for the oil galley service port plug(at least that's what i think it is)? also, does anyone know what the part number is for the crush washer?
I can't find torque specs in Honda manual. What is the size Allen head wrench? Get an equivalent washer from hardware store and torque the bolt to these specs.
Ok, I haven't been able to find that exact bolt in the book. I've looked through the entire engine section and the cooling section. There is a manual online that's pretty easy to find if you Google it. I can't link it though, it's against the forum rules. Or if you find the exact name, I'll try to remember to check back in and look in the manual again.
What I did find was this:
1. There's a bolt that looks pretty much just like it. It holds a spring and pressure relief valve in the side of the oil pump. That one is 29 lb-ft.
2. There's another that looks like it, but it is a maintenance bolt on the cylinder head near the cam chain auto-tensioner. It is 22 lb-ft.
3. There's a coolant drain bolt in the side of the block that gets torqued to 61 lb-ft. It looks completely different.
I know looks aren't everything, but if you don't end up finding the exact specs I'd proly just go with 25 and call it a day. Sorry I couldn't find the exact one.
I think he should go more than 25 ft-lbs. That looks like a plug which usually is not removed. It's short and has Allen head slot. If it's 12mm or bigger, should go around 60 ft-lbs, like chart. And use a new washer.
If you take these things on-&-off a lot, after awhile you get a feel for the proper torque range. Whatever force he needed to removed this plug, should be close to what is needed to properly tighten. You kind of get muscle memory or some such thing, after taking enough of them off.
If they are like the current Honda engines it is a 20mm seal bolt that likely came with thread lock on the threads. And we torque them to 45NM. That is appox 33 ftlbs.
Washer should be flat side to the block.
