Default tranmission washers.

i was wondering how many washer are there for the tranny?

i looked at hartopguys site and they show 3 washers. there are this many? i ordered some oil for the tranny and some engine oil washers and some seem like they dont have 2 sides to them like oil washers do. ONe side is crush and the other is not.

also is the grainy side of the washer go up or down?

The tranny has 2 washers - a fill bolt one and a drain bolt one. Same with the diff. The engine has only 1.
I don't think it matters which side you face against the casing. When I re-use them, I tend to keep the same side facing when I put it back.

grainy side towards the transmission housing. Smooth rounded side towards the bolt.

I've found that there are only 4 different washers between the tranny plugs (2), diff plugs (2) and engine oil plug (1) {5 total}. The Diff filler washer is brass, the drain washer is a silver color of approximately the same size. These are the largest 2 of the washers, which are considerably larger than the other 2 kinds (making for easy identification). The engine drain plug and tranny drain plug are the same. The last remaining washer is used on the tranny fill plug. Hope this helps...as my local Honda dealer told me all 5 plugs use the same crush washer!

Is that right? I just changed the oil for my TL the other day for the first time, and took note of the orientation of the crush washer, and the grainy side was aginst the bolt? Did the assembly line screw up?

We both know that it doesn't matter which side the washer is on...it gets crushed. The force is enough that it crushes the washer to the proper spec regardless of which side it is facing! It is only there to ensure no damage to the hardware. I think Road Rage is being a little bit furry about this. I call!
