Default Tranny Fluid for the 04

I have read many topic on tranny oils, but very little on the 04's.
I've read some where that the 04's tranny is slightly different then the past
models.

What's a good tranny fluid for the 04's? Is the Gm Fm stuff good for the 04's?
What have ppl used with good results?

In more northern climates where you might see some below-freezing temps, the Honda MTF is still the best way to go.

If you are talking about the GM synchromesh tranny fluid, that stuff should only be used in race engines. It will work good in your tranny but it will help it wear out faster too.

Well I hope no one is using it IN their race engine

I asked the same thing several times and no one has answered me. Typically you have a trade off between friction modifiers for smooth synchro action and then the benefits of synthetic. Which is why I wondered if the Syncromesh, while providing a better synchro feel, may be less effective at tranny protection compared to say a Redline product, or any other synthetic with less friction modifiers. Granted, I don't see it as being a problem compared to standard Honda MTF since that's not even synthetic.

As for the 04 tranny, it has carbon synchros.

I will be trying out the GM stuff in a few weeks in my 04 and then I will run the Redline to see if the difference is enough to warrant sticking with the Syncromesh.

I will be putting the synchromesh in my 04 this evening or tomorrow night. I don't have a grinding problem but after the last track event the tranny doesn't feel as smooth as it used to. Btw I have 10,200 miles on mine so far.

I put it in mine about two weeks ago and it seems fine - once in a blue moon i would get a second gear grind but this has not happened since..
