Good morning (it's beautiful here in VA finally!)
This last week I have been noticing something strange with my tranny. When I first start out in the morning, it is very slick and almost effortless to get it into any gear. As I drive to work and it warms up, however, the tranny gets noticeably 'stiffer' in feel, and the 2-3 actually gets difficult - feels like it would if your revs were not close to matching, like your syncros are working overtime. I don't know how to explain this 'bout 6.5k on her with just an oil change at 5k... any ideas?
I'm generally pretty easy on the car, including the tranny. No dumps or hard shifting, so just wondering why it would go from cold butter to warm molassess?

Wow, usually it's the other way around.
Hope you get some advice on this. With your miles I would guess it's the original tranny fluid? Might be worthwhile to give a fluid change a try since it's inexpensive and will elliminate that possibility.
Good luck

yeah that is the weird part...i start in the morning and i'm like 'wow this is nice' then 10 minutes later when i'm almost to work i have actually missed shifts from 2-3 because it felt like i was locked out...i'm planning on giving the fluid a change soon, but was waiting for Road Rage to give me a hand with it. maybe i'll get it done at the dealer when i get my s-02s put back on instead.
edit: and yes it's the orig. fluid

Change the tranny fluid. Use Honda MTF.
I'm curious as to whether it might be overfilled.
If that doesn't fix it, take it to the dealer, because it's definitely not right.

geez.. mines like that if i dont let it warm up.. i have the same problem with 2nd to 3rd.. i took it to the dealer.. they said nothing was wrong with it. it doesnt grind going into 3rd. but does feel like its notchy.. i definitley have to put a tad more effort to put it in 3rd. all the other gears just slide in.

i think i'd rather watch someone else first or have someone who has done it before be on site at least. i've never even changed motor oil before..

After you have changed the fluid and if it still does it, you might want to have the tranny oil pump checked as well as the oil pick up. One of these might be "not right". However, I hope the fluid change will do the trick for you.
