Default tranny noise/buzzing

Hi I just bought a 2004 silverstone, car drives great, I noticed the other day that when the clutch is depressed there is no noise but when I let off of the clutch, there is a slight buzzing noise, this is all done in neutral. Also would a 200-2001 tranny bolt up to my 2004.

Yes the tranny will bolt right in. You just need to take your 04 rear flange and put it on the older tranny.

Totally normal. As is the chorus of noise that many S trannys make under deceleration. My bet is that you are driving the car wrong -- with the top up. With the top down you won't hear half the "normal" noises.

some whirling noises are normal. There is a lot of metal on metal contact (with some gear oil involved of course) in the tranny.. gears, bearings, etc. Every tranny will make some noise, its just in the S, there is no sound proofing between the two and its sitting literally right next to you and hence, very audible. If you're worried, take it to someone who knows the car or the dealer if under warranty.
