Tranny Question
hey fellas, this may be a dumb question but it needs answered. Im living in Germany right now and of course we have the autobahn. Recently when I do a 200+ km/hr pull for a few miles I notice my gears begin to "stick" or become hard to shift. The downshift from 6th to 5th is fine but starts hanging up when going from 5th to 4th and so on. I understand that its the tranny getting hot and all but is this normal. After it cools there are no problems. Would changing the fluid help? Im running Amsoil right now and just wonder if it has broken down since the last time I changed it. Any input will help.
thanks

Change the fluid and maybe look into fabricating a heat shield for your exhaust near the transmission or wrapping the exhaust near the transmission if the problem persists after an oil change. You might also want to have a $25 analysis of the transmission oil by Blackstone labs because they'll be able to determine if it's breaking down due to wear, age, temperature, and many other variables. I have my engine oil tested every change. It's one of the best ways to truly know the health of your vehicle.
The sample collection kit is free but the analysis is $25 and they'll do any viscous lubricant in the car. Great for difs also!

Clutch uses DOT3/4 brake fluid. Transmission uses Honda MTF.

Dang, I'd say you're DEFINITELY in need of a transmission oil change if you've been driving it hard like that for that long (purely an assumption on my part). I usually aim for every 20,000 miles or 18 months due to the stresses I generally put on the car. My z32 TT gets its gear oil changed every 10k but it's mostly used for track days etc. I bet that stuff is going to stink like hell when you drain it. I would absolutely recommend doing your diff oil as well, as that's probably so nasty it'll make you throw up when you drain it. Don't get it on your clothes or you may as well throw them away.
