Transmission/clutch issue.
So I have an 01 s2000, 124k. my clutch has the normal 1" of play that if you lightly press the clutch in it will move then stop a little from that button sensor.
Every gear seems to "notch" itself into place unless I am accelerating or rev up after clutch in and before shifting. Now my 3rd gear requires a very specific method to shift into perfectly from 2nd above 4000rpm, it will grind even during a proper h pattern shift, unless you lightly press up, let the spring pop it out of second and push up into 3rd at the perfect angle. It has been in 2 accidents that were of minor damage but at decent speeds. There is also black gunk at the bottom of the master as well as inside on the rod where it goes through the firewall, that would be high temperature grease right? Or is that the same gunk from the master cylinder? I'm going to replace my master and slave cylinder, possibly clutch lines, get under the car and check the bolts that mate trans to engine, if all else fails I will attempt rod/free play adjustment. Any other suggestions? I regressed the shifter and did transmission fluid at 110k

This has to be the most common S2k issue. Rough shifting due to incomplete clutch disengagement.
Start with just gravity bleeding the clutch hydraulics, and adjust clutch rod. Bottle of brake fluid is way cheaper than mc and slave, parts you probably dont need.
Follow the gravity bleed diy carefully. Make sure to clean out the mc reservoir, then to prevent future issues every other oil change, change the fluid in the mc (turker baster).

Only true way to bleed the clutch hydraulics is the Billman way, which is the motorcycle mechanics's way, which is to get the bleeder on the clutch to point straight up and just gravity bleed it. Use up a whole little bottle of Valvoline dot 3/4 that you buy at the autoparts store. Make sure you cover the fender and painted surfaces before you start playing with break fluid unless you like stripped paint. If any gets on you have about 60 seconds to wash it off with water before the fluid starts damaging the paint.
So I adjusted the rod for an hour and after letting it fall out and having a fun trying to learn well I got my shifting issue resolved. The car feels like it wants to pull quite a bit as well. BUT, now there is a jumpy feeling and a clink clank noise like maybe the engine or transmission mounts are bad? It feels like the car is trying to move but sometimes sputters for a slight second. It alsp happens when i let off the throttle I had this issue before fixing it as well. Any info?
I hear the clinking and clanking happening when engaging 1st from a stop, or if I let off the throttle a little. going say 20, let off the throttle, clink clink clink, rolling at 20.....19.....18.....17 then if I slowly go back into the throttle instead of braking to a stop, clink clink clink and kind of a small rock back and forth as your accelerating. It could just be that's how the car is, I have had the sound since the day I got the car. It really sounds like it's coming from the back by the transmission/diff during throttle engagement, but I have no idea.
