Default Transmission fluid in the passenger footwell?

So I bought some groceries and tossed bag in the passenger footwell. Got home and noticed that it was splashed a red liquid and noted that it was unmistakably transmission fluid.

How on earth could it get there?

This is in my auto-tranny daily driver btw

The only possible way is that you tracked it in, spilled it out of a container, or whatever. There's no way it's going to get in the passenger footwell if it's ATF.

But... What kind of car? Is the fluid under the floormats, or just on the surface?

I bet it is water from the A/C that has picked up the dye from the carpet.

Did you have any red fluid in your groceries? Cranberry juice? Tomato juice? V-8? Clamato? Cough syrup?
