Default Transmission Problem

So, I havent been able to drive my car for about three weeks now. I've been to busy to get around to fixing this problem until now.

So my dad was driving my car for about two weeks(5 weeks ago). The weekend came and I was about to head out of my house and got into my car. I was about to drive out of the garage and I noticed it was difficult to get it into first gear. Also, the clutch was sticky and weird feeling. I was driving down my drive way and tried to shift into second gear and once again found it difficult to do so. So I decided it was too risky to drive and put the car into reverse, once again it was difficult, and backed up my driveway into my garage. I had somewhere to be so I didnt check the problem any further and got into another car and left.

So I tried driving my car today and it will not go into gear. I think the problem is the clutch/pedal is not working properly. Normally the clutch has a the "normal" amount of resistance and maintains that pressure as I step on the pedal. Now the clutch pedal has very little resistance til it gets close to the bottom. When it gets close to the bottom the pressure feels "normal" the way it should. Once the pedal is pressed all the way down it sticks down there for a split second before popping back up. I think the clutch is not "open" when I press the pedal down and thus won't allow for a gear change.

I have the feeling that this is not a major problem and can be fixed easily, but I just don't know the cause of the problem. I checked the clutch fluid level and it seems fine.

Any thoughts? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

P.s. lesson learned, dont let my pops drive my car hahaha jk

Check your fluid level. If that's good, check the slave and fork.

The fluid level seems good to me. I guess I gotta check the slave this weekend. I hope the fork is fine!!
hahah i dont think the clutch is destroyed. i have 62xxx miles on it. It's an old clutch but still works fine, albeit not as well as it used to.

any other thoughts? I wanna get as much info on this problem before i get under the car this weekend.

thanks for the input so far guys!

My car was and is having trouble engaging 1st from a stop. I've just been throwing into 2nd then going into first but it sounds like you can't even get 2nd.. I was a little panicked at first but since reading about common clutch master cyanide and slave cylinder wear I've relaxed some about it. My fluid w filthy, I since sponged out the reservoir and added cleaner fluid. It feels slightly better but I think it still needs a good bleed. I think that will take care of much issue
