Transmission rebuild?
How many of you have done a transmisison rebuild, how hard is the job???
Summer is coming and i have some time off, i have a few problems with my tranny right now. It whines like crazy, and recently i discovered i could not go into 5th gear at the end of 4th *AT HIGH RPM 7.5k rpm and up. Im REALLY paranoid when it comes to my cars. So i would like to rebuild the trany for the peace of mind.
So how hard is it to open the tranny up and replace the damaged parts???

You'll need a Helm Service Manual, before even starting the job. You'll also need access to a hydraulic press, and bearing seperators.
If you have a a good understanding of how it works, work slowly, a decent assortment of tools it can be done.
I wouldn't consider it a DIY project for most.
You'll also be shocked with how much a syncro/hub set costs. I recently priced a 1-2 and 5-6 synchro sets. Suggested retail was close to $600.

plus you need to order a special tool from Hodna. You will need it when you put everything back together.
