Default Transmission Shifting

When my car is cold, I notice, at lower rpms, when I shift gears, there is a little bit of bite. (not gear grinding). Doesn't go smoothly.
When things warm up, it is better, but not real smooth.
It seems the higher the rpm's in any gear, the smoother is gets.
Is this a trait of the transmission? I have a 2003.

yes it is normal, i've also noticed the shifts become smoother when you take the rpm higher and higher. if you like to keep your rpm down. rev-match between upshifts if you want a smooth shift
