Transmission Synchros

Transmission Synchros
As of right now one weakness is the S2000's transmission and the synchro's within. Right now, nobody makes a stronger/better synchronizer for the S2000. A few times I have contacted Synchrotech Transmissions Inc. who are arguably the best when it comes to aftermarket transmissions and synchros for Hondas and Acuras, and they have said there isn't enough of a market for them to develop syncrhos. I created this group to show just the opposite, that there is. So join up! After we get a favorable number of people joined, I will bring it to Synchrotech so that hopefully they will see the value in them creating something for the S2000 community. The group is open, so invite anyone and everyone you know with an S2000!

What's wrong with the OEM synchro's?
Don't they work well?
What is this well known weakness?
Please share.
If you base your opinion on a (or more likely: your) bad shifting transmission I think you are wrong.
How are the clutch hydraulics?
If there is one thing (*) that is truely known to cause bad shifting it is this system running old crappy fluid and/or a bad bleed.
Also, are the mechanics of the clutch system ok, greased and polished where it should be?
Are you using your original OEM disk / PP, if not: what are you using and who installed it?
Are you pretty sure this installer cleaned and greased all the necessary parts with the right grease to insure a smooth shift?
How often do you change transmission oil?
And what oil do you use?
Answer us this to provide some more info for the S2k community.
And no: I'm 100% not in for "upgraded" aftermarket synchro's.
My OEM's work perfect.
(*) apart from the operator, IOW: the one behind the wheel, IOW: YOU!

Spitfire, good buddy, I posed the same question to Jordan in the other forum. Like you, I questioned the need for "better" equipment in this case. He explained it very nicely and I now understand why he's doing it. Read this thread and see if you agree. Post #6 onwards.

Hmm... I donno.
If people abuse a gearbox with "stronger" synchro's, something else will fail.
There will always be a weak link.
Like the 2 sec. reduction shaft bearings, do I need to post the pics I took of them, with big chuncks of metal missing?
To call out for stronger synchro's based on one (1) statement saying they will be unavailable in the (near) future is.. a little far fetched IMO.
With the topic title and first post as they are now this will only attract the people that "need upgraded parts" because they "drive the car hard and OEM is surely not good enough"
The topic title and first post as they are now also do not show the intent of the OP, which is not a bad one, in theory.
Isn't INDYMAC the one with a super duper high milage Sk2?
How are his synchro's?
IMO, properly maintained and handled parts go a long way (*)
Running out of parts for a (sports)car that was only produced for a decade - or even longer - is not something new.
Car enthousiasts all over the world face this problem.
(*) I'll cross thet bridge when I get to it.

I can only imagine hot roading teenagers are rapping trannies and suggesting it's Honda's fault.
105K on my tranny, 170k on a friends. No issues. Furthermore he tracks a ton, and I less than he.
Proper shifting and you don't use the syncros. I swear, the internet is making people stupid.
