Default Transmission Updates for 2003

Not sure if this goes in introductions... or in under the hood.. 50/50 gamble:

O.K. So I am picking up either a 2002 or 2003 suzuka tomorrow, and I really need to know, since there was a comment I found .. Well anyway.. Hopefully this will set everything straight instead of being a hodgepodge of opinions:

Was the 2nd gear synchro ever updated again for MY2003? I know it was in 2002, but besides the color changes, did this change also happen?

Anything else (changes) I should consider/note besides the oil jet bolts?

Sometimes search can be good, but other times it can be confusing as hell. I was under the impression besides the midyear oil jet bolt change, late model 2002s were exactly identical to 2003s (save for color choices).

Thanks

No transmission changes were made for '03. Like you said, mid-MY02 the oil bolts were updated. That was somewhere in the VIN# 5xxx area. Otherwise, identical cars.

The only update (I know of) besides the 04 trans stuff, was a trans oil pump being added, or upgraded. not sure about the timeline, this could have been mid 2000.

those + the synchronizer updates for 2002 right? And honestly, I don't think the driver would be able to tell significantly between all these changes..

I don't know why I worry. I keep telling myself 2002 and 2003 same except for that one small change with the oil jet bolts but you know

psychologically "2003 is newer than 2002 so therefore..."

Oh well. Can only wait and see what happens tomorrow...

Billman250, I thought the actual oil pump changed somewhere in 2003. I'm not sure why I think this, maybe I'm confusing this with the trans oil pump. I have been under the impression for a while that I have an older one in MY 03 that is subject to failure under "extended periods of high rpm driving". I don't rember where I'm getting all this from, is that from the oil jet bolts? I might be delusional. I'm going to check part numbers. I don't think I can check if a part has been SS without going to see my friend tomorrow though.

If I am not mistaken, that issue of inadequate oil supply was remedied by the oil jet bolts update as you stated.. And that was changed mid MY2002.

So if you are thinking of something else that happened in 2003, that wasn't it.

I don't know anything about the trans oil pump though.

I just found a text file I made from posts on this site. It looks like I messed up on the cut paste near the bottom as it looks like warning mixed with a question.

[QUOTE]There was an oil pump change, somewhere in 2003 production. Anybody know when this started?

My 2000-2004 Honda OEM parts manual shows only two part numbers. 15100-PCX-013 for the 2000-2003 cars and 15100-PCX-023 for the 2004. Usually if there was a mid-year change the parts book will show the new part number begining with a particular engine number.

If there was a mid-year change in 2003, that would be cool by me as I have a late model 2003.

This is a COPY/PASTE from KRAZIK...

I didn't have time to read all 9 pages of this thread to double check, but it does appear that in 2003 hond gave us a new oil pump. not sure what changed exactly.

In MY2000-MY2003.x we had oil pump part number 15100-PCX-013
and MY2003.x to MY2005 we have oil pump part number 15100-PCX-023.

Can't say what the difference is, but just FYI.

Maybe he'll chime in....

Oil pressure at a constant 7k rpm as in sustained high speed driving vs normal freeway speeds (65-75 mph). I am interested to see if the new pump will help prevent catastrophic engine failure due to severe driving conditions such as sustained high speed driving.

Ps, Yo billman, don't crash trying to test this $hit out for us
