Default Trunk Won't Open with FOB or inside button

Out of the blue, my FOB stopped working to open the truck (the door locks are fine). I tried the interior trunk release button, and the stopped working too. It will open with the key.

I took the car to the dealer - they checked the fuses (none burned out) and replaced the solenoid - but it still won't work.

They think it's perhaps an electrical / wiring problem - but I needed the car back and haven't taken it back to them yet.

Has anyone experienced anything like that? Nothing was done to the car - no after market anything and it's my daily driver - so it hasn't been sitting.

I haven't noticed any other electrical issues going on....

Any advice? TIA!

Try this. Hang your head inside the driver side near the door hinge area. Push the trunk release button for at least three seconds and see if you hear a click. If not the relay is probably shot. If so,then there is either a bad connection leading to the trunk solenoid or the trunk gasket is sticcky and won't allow it to open before it relatches itself once the solenoid is no longer energized.

I'm having the same issue and would be interested in how the problem was resolved. Thanks.

check the wiring cuz both do the same thing but the remote(sends signal to the receiver and the receiver sends the signal to the solenoid to release the latch) where as the button just sends the signal to the solenoid to release the latch. do you have any BCM codes? but do what robert O said push the trunk release button and see if you hear a click do it a bunch of times to see if you hear it if you do then the latch is probably frozen(lube it up).

I had the exact same problem when I got my S2. My friend quickly pulled out a multimeter and found a break in one of the wires. Check the wiring in the trunk around where it flexes, mine just seems to have broken from regular wear and tear.

I had the exact same problem and the problem was a blown keyless entry fuse underneath in the fuse box underneath the steering wheel.

I had problem with my 3rd brake light first. Then with the trunk release buttons on key fob and on center console. Just looking around. Not checking voltage. I knew it had to be in the kick panel on left in trunk. Ive taken it out. Put it back in so on so on. I stuff my trunk at times shopphing and so on. I figured it was the wires that run up in the rrunk to the trunk. I feel like this is a common problen with our S. I found the wiresthat run up on the left to the trunk was cut. The black and yellow black and the white and black. even though they got the black insolation it got pinched up in the hinge and got cut.

Stopped working yesterday and before wasting any time looking at fuses and the like, I got on my computer and found a few threads on the forums that I'll post in. Unclipped and unwrapped wire loom, sure enough, yellow and black wire snipped. Decided that if there was stress on THAT wire and ALL the wires are the same length, I'd be better served to just cut/solder and extend all of them. Added heatshrink, rewrapped it in the loom and wrapped it with electrical tape. You can't even tell it was touched aside from an extra 2 inches of slack in the lines to avoid this issue in the future.

Here's the exposed break...I removed the left side trunk lining.

Very nice! I have a broken wire and now I know what I'm going to do about it.
