Default Trunk won't open with remote

Hey everyone my 3rd brake light stopped working and my trunk won't open with the remote or the button in the center console. The only way for me to open the trunk is with the key. Checked the fuses and doesn't seem to be the problem. Im guessing it's the wiring? Any help would be great! Thanks everyone.

I thought trunk release was electronic and not wire?

it is electronic..I'm guessing a wire could be pinched or lose? I'm not receiving any power to the trunk so I guess that's why the 3rd brake light isn't working since.

So, how would the electrons get to the actuator with a . . . . . . . wire.

But you're right, it is not cable actuated.

I checked the voltage going to the trunk and its only reading a .01. I checked my friends trunk and it was reading 5. I don't know where to start to diagnose the problem. And no there is no indicator light on my dash. I checked all the fuses inside the cabin and in the engine bay and they are all good.

I was too late

Wires break right where the trunks pivots the wires. Fixed 2 cars already.
