TSB question for you....
Hey everyone, what a site! You guys are like animals on this forum...posting every other minute, I love it. Well, my concern is that my new-to-me, 2002 s2k is really rough going into second gear. It's been this way the entire 4k miles I've owned it. It's got 60k on it, and I'm afraid that only increases the possibility of abuse. It was an older gentleman who owned it before me, but that doesn't mean he didn't drive the hell out of it. Like you've probably heard before, it absolutely hates going into second if you shift after 8k rpm. Basically, I have to take it to redline, push in the clutch with a vengeance, wait a split sec, then put it (cautiously) into gear. Otherwise I get this nice searing grind noise. I'm being facetious. I hate this noise, and day by day I find out there are tons of TSB's out there. So if anyone's heard of a tranny TSB for a 2002 s2k please, please let me know. Thanks.
Xviper, what would you say is a good/bad friction point? I've driven dozens of manuals and I'd say the clutch feels just right. It engages a couple inches off the floor...not too far, not too close. The clutch does slip if I attempt to slip it above 6k, but that's another thread. THanks. By the way Billman, do you know where I can reference that tranny TSB??

It now sounds reasonable that you pursue the 2nd gear grind TSB as Billman first posted about.
My First Post WOOOO! I've had a similar problem with my 2000 S2k. It shifts smoothly under normal operation but has an intermittent grind at max engine speed when i'm rowing briskly from first to second gears. This is concurrent with the TSB that i'm aware of that affects VIN from JHMAP1...YT000001 thru JHMAP1...YT006255 for the 2000 model year. This could be operator error, but i feel fairly confident in my driving abilities (but you never know). Were there TSB's related to later model years for second gear grind?
