From the first day that I've had my car, I've sometimes felt a slight kick back when trying to shift into 3rd gear. When going from 2nd to 3rd, the stick will sometimes cause my hand to jerk back a little, before sliding into 3rd gear. Just wondering if anyone else has these problems.

The gears have never ground (knock on wood), but I do have that clunking noise when I shift every now and then.

Mark,
I think I notice what you're talking about. It's just an ever so slight jerk, kinda like it's stuck on something for a split second?!?!?! When it happens, I keep the clutch in and very slowly shift it all the way in gear. That HAS been bothering me every once in a while. And twice recently when VTECing I've ground 2nd gear. And I've got the decelerating noise. Thinking it's maybe time to take it in, but I'm afraid I'd be the first...

i get that *once* in awhile. i think it's grinding, but real quick. since the dtick is directly connceted to the tranny, you'll feel everything. just make sure you have the clutch all the way in before you pull the stick out of gear. i usually get it if i pull on the stick and put the clutch in at the same time. it's kind of cool, you can actually feel the teeth on the gears.

Blakers -- You won't be the first if you take it to Eskeridge Honda of I240. They did an excellent job on my clutch/2nd gear. I was their guinea-pig!

I have an extra "click" sometimes, but never an actual kickback. Blaker described what I have. It has gotten better over the miles. I'm up to 10k and it's not nearly as bad as when it was new.

I think blakers description of the problem is a lot better than mine. We have similar problems with 3rd gear. The weird thing is, it doesn't happen all the time. I was driving the car around yesterday, and the gearbox felt great. It was soooo smooth.

S2WOOOW, good to know that it'll go away with time. Does that mean we're really just grinding down our gears until they mesh better???

Sounds to me like you are hitting the gate between 1 and 3 or 3 and 5. A grind is a vibration with a metalic noise, not a clunk. A clunk may just be the friction of the syncros. Unless you rev match the gear change, you should expect some friction as you shift gears.
