Default turbo max boost

I'm about to make the plunge to the darkside. I'm going to run a standalone computer with a turbo kit. What is the max boost I can SAFELY run with stock internals (minus fuel injectors).

Thanks

Jeff is exactly right. I have maps for my EMS at 6 and 12psi(race gas only). I ran the 12psi map once on the dyno with 111 octane and will never do it again, let alone drive that map on the street. If you want to be able to drive the car hard and not have to worry about it I wouldn't go over 6psi.

6 psi? Other kits are pushing more and are seemingly doing well. Granted the supercharged kits do not maintain boost for long periods of time, however that's with a FMU, and without the ability to retard the ignitiion, correct?

I would think you would be able to get more out of the engine by being able to retard. Change injector pulse, And do other fine tuning. The internals CAN handle 12 PSI? I understand that it may not have been streetable, and Granted it was on 111 and not pump gas. But the internals CAN hold up to that?

That must have been one sick DINO run. Mind if I ask what it put out?

Anyone else any thoughts, or experience?

I'm running 9-10psi right now on stock internals and am about to go to 11-12psi. This is on 94 octane with a stock block and a Vortech supercharger. Turbo is another issue. Lower the compression and you will be fine. You don't need to build up the block.

The only thing to keep you from doing this is detonation. As long as you have enough fuel and the ability to retard the timing you can run as much boost as you want.

Get 700-800cc injectors and an AEM EMS and I know you can get to 12psi on 94 octane for sure. Lower the compression and 15-20 is possible with 750cc and no FMU.

It was a very nerve racking dyno run, that may have damaged my engine but only time will tell. The 12psi map was extremely rich and I was experiencing an ignition problem in VTEC so the curve was not very smooth but it put down 330rwhp. I believe I could've hit higher but I stopped after the first run due to the ignition problem. Sure the internals held up for my dyno run but the dyno is very different than driving on the street. I am sure there are other Speedcraft owners with a 12psi map, and they would be a better judge of how well the car holds up to that kind of boost.

Other turbo kits are running more boost. But they have only been around for a few months which makes reliability hard to judge. UR looks like a very nice kit and they offer great customer service, but the kit is still very new. The reason I went with the Speedcraft kit is because they have the most experience with turbo S2000's and tuning the EMS.

I ran 12 psi for around 10K or so miles on mine before selling it but ran a mix of pump gas and 116 octane all of the time. Unless you're doing something to keep from detonating then I wouldn't go ove about 6 psi.

The shop that's going to be doing the work for me has about 10 years experience of turbo tuning, and we are going to use an EMS (NOT AEM I forgot the name). The guy had his car all set up with it. The system is awesome. Works just like a factory computer.

He played with some settings to the car would have problems and the check engine light came on in the DASH. Hook up the lap top, hit diagnos, and you get all the problems in a list. Fix the problem, clear the codes, light goes away. Nice virtual dash too. If there's a sensor, you can see what it's doing.

IT was a pretty cool system and very user friendly. I can't remember the name, I just know it was version 7. (ANY HELP? Maybe started with an X)

The system also has the ability to automatically retard if it detects knock or detonation. I'm feeling pretty comfortible with his knowledge of tuning and the EMS's ability to perform. My question was more or less regarding how the engine would hold up under boost. Especially the head gasket.

so am I right in assuming if you are not detonating, preigniting, or other wise having improper or lean burns, the stock block is safe to use with whatever amount of boost you can push?

Thanks
