Default Turbo Question

After reading many of the threads about turbos and superchargers there's one thing I don't understand. What changes are made to prevent detonation (ecu mod, etc.)? I thought that 11:1 compression was about as high as you could go with super unleaded fuel. Thanks!

The turbo from Speedcraft is using some sort of ignition system (MSD?) I believe, however I am not positive since they haven't said exactly what they are doing.. The Comptech charger pushes so much hot air that the ECU automatically retards the timing..

Positive manifold preasure has nothing to do with ignition timing, however the way the Speedcraft kit gets around that issue is with a piece called the Missing Link, do a search on Yahoo.

I dont know what the hell Comptech does ..
