Default Turbonator...???????????? 24+ extra HP????

I have an S2000 and my brother has a 2001 Prelude. He's just started to customize his car, and came across an add in a magazine about a product called turbonator. Its a pretty nifty looking design that attaches itself to the for most end of the air filter. This being the end with the filter=) In a nutshell, it forces air into the engine using no moving parts, for only 50 bucks!! Im curious if this works as advertized, besides, who wouldn't pay 50 bucks for 14% more HP! Personally, i think it will work for a short while, but the computer may compensate much like it does for intakes. Also, is it a reasonable aftermarket part for the S2000??? Thnx

Brandon

Its junk and most likely will rob your engine of horsepower.

if you get that, dont forget to add some HP with these stickers on ebay.

btw, no idea what it is, just doesn't sound right. but I think it will rob you of a few HP and a few dollars.

To a search on "tornado" and "e-ram." This sounds like one of those... basically junk.

Tell your brother to visit http://www.preludeonline.com and http://www.ntpog.org.

Another one of those "as seen on TV" products. Save your money, you'll only loose HP buy adding this to your engine.

Actually, years ago on HondaPrelude.com we talked about this unit... if in fact it is the same thing. It would 12v wire into the battery, just as an amp... and jam air into the TB. They demo'd it by holding it up, and turning it on above the ground... it would lift itself without probs, and it... itself weighed 5+lbs...

Several guys tried it, reporting some gain... but several took it out on road courses, and longer autox runs... Said the hard pull on the battery drained it VERY rapidly. One owner said after four laps his battery was dead.

Basically it's like a 1psi intake based turbo... nothing terribly technological. Just VERY hard on the electrical system.

Though this one was like $150... not $50..
