Turbonetics
Hey, this question is for the turbo experts, I am looking at having a custom turbo setup made for my S. The shop I am going to have it made by has recommended a turbonetics turbo, but I havent heard much feedback from them. I am wondering how they stack up to the other turbos on the market (Garrett, HKS, A'PEXi, etc...) I am looking for the best there is. The manifold they are making for me is an equal length with a flawless merge collector... nice way to spend $1500. Cant wait for this thing to come along.
Turbonetics makes a very solid product, but even though I own one... if cost wasn't an object and there was a shop custom making all of my piping and my manifold... I would have to go with a Garett dual ball bearing unit... but this is only an opinion. How about some pics? What else are you planning? I would love to check it out. Good luck with the project.

I am going to have pics taken when everything is done... I am not rushing into this project, it is just kinda something I am going to piece together little by little. The first things I am doing will be the manifold, and intercooler piping. But before I run any kind of boost, I will be having AEBS sleeve the engine, and will use lower compression pistons (8.5:1? not sure yet) hopefully the car will be done by next year with everything I am planning. I want to put on some kind of body kit, thinking along the lines of the Top Secret front bumper, but I havent found anything I really like for the rest of the car yet. The mugen hardtop looks like it will see it's way onto my car, and I will completely remove the convertible top, and have the hardtop flush mounted in with the body. Basically when I am done I want a show and go S2000.
I will definately check out the Garrett dual BB. I am going to run a fairly large turbo, so I do need a good BB so it doesnt take 6 weeks to spool up.

Please PM me with the deatails of the kit your wanting. I live in San Diego also, and am having a company make a kit on my car, and from the sounds of it, the kit would fit your requirements.

My kit has the turbonetics, it is smaller t3/t4 hybrid for low end boost, the kit should be done in a week or two( I hope
), We will post pics/dyno then. you and I have similar ideals for the car, check my sig.

money no object, get a dual ball bearing GT turbo by HKS or Garrett (Garrett makes HKS tubos but HKS' have better intake housings). I know diGiTal.James, myself and cjb80 will be using larger GT turbos. Turbonetics make good products and I believe the SpeedCraft one can be had for $600? As a point of comparison, the GT turbos get as expensive as $2600. These new GT turbos will spool up fast and release less heat so I hear. If money is an issue, go with the Turbonetics as it is a good product but wont cost you a sh!t load to get one. Wait for some other members to respond who can give you more advice than me, as i only know a moderate amount compared to some of these gearheads. -Anthony
Garrett turbos are generally regarded as some of the highest quality units out there. I've heard mixed things on the Turbonetics turbos. If you do a search in some Civic or Honda performance forums with more turbo information, you'll find a good share of complaints about the Turbonetics blowing seals, eating themselves alive, etc. Try ClubSi.com's Got Boost forum or the Honda-Tech board. The Honda-Tech board has got some serious gearheads, and there's a guy on ClubSi who has a B16 putting out just over 500 whp!
