I don't remember the specific names of the gases eliminated from the use of a CAT, but when you take out the CAT and replace with it a straight pipe you are no longer converting the noxious gases. I'd try and find a local and ride with them with the roof down in stop and go local traffic.

I feel like that smell is hit and miss with cars. I have a test pipe and don't get the smell. I have been in cars that do. Smells like rotten eggs

I have been through them all.

Best quality (refined) sound.... Uk mod with oem cat
Loudest (and maybe a little ricer)..... Uk mod with tp
Best overall (balanced) ...... Uk mod with hf cat

I get many compliments at the track at how my car sounds. It is easy to hear, not quiet at wot. But it also has a nice tone, kind of like an exotic, high revving vq engine.

Mine still has the resonator. I think the design of the uk mod itself has a lot to do with the volume of noise. When I ran it with a TP, it was very loud. At top revs, WOT I would say it was like a piped lk bike. You can hear it miles away. I feel mine came out louder than others. Here is the link of what it looks like...
