I raised it because I could not drop the hood shut. I had to drop the hoop and then press it closed. I can't seem to find the sweet spot.
How high were you dropping it from? It is not uncommon to drop it from as high as 2 feet up. It is far better to drop our hoods from a rediculously high point than it is to press down on it.

If you don't understand this concept, you will probably take the same philosophy towards other automotive products. One day, it will come back and bite you in the ass.
I am not going to even dignify that ridiculous comment with a response.

Guys where is the best place to purchase white lithium grease? Is this something that I can pick up from my local auto parts store?

You can also buy white lithium grease in a tube, which is the type I use... I just apply it with my fingers.

You can buy lithium grease at basically any auto parts store. It's a very common item used all over the place.

Thanks Koala, I will be sure to pick some up. I hope that they have the spray type.

I guess that I will keep the black stuff that I have and use it another day.

It was FAR from a ridiculous comment. A guy who has been here a total of 61 days calling out one of the MOST respected technical gurus on this website? I don't think that is a good idea.

You saying you have some crappy black grease laying around and that you're going to use that instead of the correct product application is just dumb. You going to use canola oil in your engine just because you have some laying around in the kitchen?

Either fix the problem correctly or listen to the squeak. Doing it half-ass won't get you anywhere in life.

I didn't call anybody out! By the way, if you read you will see that my car is NOT currently squeaking.

Bro you don't even know me! To then sit there and say that simply because I purchased brand X grease equates to myself as being someone whom is not willing to exert full effort in life is highly flawed logic.

No, I did not have the black grease laying around, I went to the store and bought it and paid a decent amount of $$ for what I was told is a quality product. I also read the instructions and its usage was right up my alley hence my reason for purchasing.

If you have something else to say, take it to PM as opposed to ruining the information which has been presented to myself and others.

I agree that it takes a ridiculously high drop for the factory aluminum hood to close. I carry the habit of pressing it close from my miata days. The even lighter factory miata alumimum hood was almost impossible to close from a drop. I just make sure I use both palms spreading out the force as big an area as possible to press the hood down.

Have you not adjusted the 4 hood bumpstops?

I somehow overlooked that comment of Xviper's. At the time I thought that I was dropping it from a relatively high point probably very close to two feet. I will play around the latch a bit more and grab some of the white lithium grease.

It is amazing how something so small can be so annoying!
