Default Used s2k with weird plugs...

Just bought my 04 last week and changed all fluids, dropped the loud exhaust and changed plugs today...weird how whoever owned this car didn't like own parts. I found non oem oil filter etc. What do you think about the plugs and the state of my engine? It was Bosch platinum fusion and I replaced these with oem NGKs. It wasn't even torqued tight. Came off too easy...car ran well as far as I could tell. The old plugs look pretty black around the threads but the tip and the prongs look ok.

Were they this model? Heat range and correct fit matters. Think these are a bit of a gimmick, though.

Multi-electrode plugs do not belong in an S2000 engine.

Those plugs are application specific and the S is not one of them.

Why were platinum plugs chosen over iridium? Is the thinner electrode on iridium plugs more prone to damage over slightly thicker Pt electrodes during a random preignition?

Yeap, the plugs look to be those in that link. Not sure why these plugs were chosen by the previous owner. Almost seems a random non Honda shop worked on this car. It surprised me how easily the plugs came off, required no effort at all.

Dodged a bullet there, it's very bad when plugs back out.

Did you service the differential? Judging from the other "maintenance" I'd want insure hypoid gear oil was in there, not something like Honda differential oil.

I did change all fluids. Honda MTF and used amsoil 70w110 for the diff. All fluids looked never changed at 70k.

Good to go! A couple of cars have had the wrong differential oil in the past couple months, hence the concern.

Thanks. I'm amazed how active this forum is compared to others where it's gone off to Facebook etc. I was able to get the used car back to way it should be by searching the forum here. I originally went to buy the diff oil at the dealer and they were about to sell me some NAPA gear oil. Haha. The parts guy said they almost never see s2000s.
