Default VAFC question

Okay, so i'm reading up and it seems like a vafc would provide me with the best gains for the cost (in my price range) My problem is i have no experience or knowledge with tuning air/fuel mixtures or what i should increase/decrease. Anyone have any pointers or anything i could read to become more educated on this? Id appreciate it.

Thanks.

i got it mine "Street tuned" and installed at unlimited Performace.

I Think it will make a bigger differnce when you get some more bolt on parts: I/H/E...

so you can add more fuel

after i get my intake, i want to get it on a dyno and tuned, to get the most out of it...

but it should be a good mod, people dyno at 10-15 hp increase at RL...

I'm currently running a AEM V1 cai, and next week i'll have my invidia system as well. I take it if i do go ahead and purchase it i should take it to a local speed shop and have it tuned by them?

don't. you're only asking for trouble. if you don't already know how to tune your car, don't do it at the price of your engine because the cheap mod could turn into very expensive repair work later on.

if you're in SoCal, i'd hit up ultimate lurker (Shawn). he's the best, and he'll charge you $150 for his services. i'm planning a trip out to Cali just to see him and a few other friends.

150$ for 10-15 hps sounds good , considering, new intake 200-300 or exhaust 500+ for less then 5 hp most of the time =)

be picky who you choose. sometimes it's hard to figure out which are bs'ing you and which really know what they're doing. i can think of one person who had their VAFC tuned by someone who didn't know our car well enough, and he had enough issues that he later just decided to take the whole damn thing out.

believe me. i'm not putting down the VAFC. i run one myself. you just have to be aware that it is an evasive mod that requires someone with some skill to ensure it's tuned right.

Thanks alot for the comments, I'll be looking more into finding someone who knows how to tune one before looking into buying one now. I'll have to chat around on the regional board, but I would still like to learn as much as i can about this if possible, so anything anyone could point me in the direction to reference would still be appreciated. Any books/threads/independent research would be great.

Thanks alot for the help everyone....

correct me if I am wrong, but the 02-03's have a more leaned out ECU which is why they make a little bit more power (when I say little, I mean about 2-4 hp).

so if he has a 02, why would he want to add fuel if Honda leanded out the ECU. that would be defeating the purpose... someone correct me if I am wrong
