Default VAFC questions....

Okay,

I have the J's Racing intake and am awaiting my T1R exhaust from the second batch of the groupbuy on this forum. I'm also contemplating on using a VAFC to tune. So my question is: how low can you get the VTEC point on the S2000s (MY04) without sacrificing reliability and driveability. Oh and also, I would like to know the difference between the VAFCI and VAFCII. If the VAFC is not a good option (besides the stand-alone, which would not fit my budget and goals for the car) should I go with a ECU that has been already tuned and ready-to-use like the Spoon or Mugen?

The difference between the VAFCI and VAFCII is mainly the looks/style of it. The VAFCI comes in silver case with blue screen while the VAFCII come in a black case with a black screen. Navigation thru the options in the VAFCII is also a lot easier. and I think the VAFCII is more precice on the air/fuel tuning. and there's a couple of other minor differences between the two....

Oh by the way.. the VAFCII is smaller... =)

I'm not sure that the VAFC will let you lower VTEC, thought you had to have like the AEM EMS. Not positive though.

Typically I've seen people able to get as low as 5500rpm for VTEC engagement for an otherwise stock engine.

I've heard of ONE person who cliams they got it lower, but have never been able to get details about that.
